Jazz at LACMA is closing out its Friday season, and if you haven’t made it out yet, this is your sign. 6 PM at the Smidt Welcome Plaza, free, first-come — bring a blanket, bring a friend, let the music do what it does at golden hour.

Saturday, September 5: The day you build the whole week around
This one’s a lot, in the best way. Latin Sounds is back at LACMA’s Hancock Park at 5 PM — this season alone has brought Cuban son, Brazilian vocals, and West Coast salsa to that lawn, and every single time it feels like a block party threw itself.
Down at the harbor, the LA Maritime Institute is sending a tall ship out for the monthly Sunset Sail at 5 PM — genuinely one of the most romantic things you can do in this city for the price of a ticket.
Over in Historic Filipinotown, Kanto Corner FallFest takes Unidad Park at 2 PM with the kind of community energy that makes a neighborhood feel like a neighborhood — food, vendors, live music, all of it. KCRW Summer Nights wraps its entire season at 6 PM with a free block party at Lankershim and Magnolia — nearly 20 stops all summer, and this is the last one, so go say goodbye properly.
And once the sun’s down, San Gabriel’s Blossom Market Hall throws its Pre-Oktoberfest Night Market, 9 PM to midnight — karaoke, beer, food trucks, and zero pretense about being anything other than a really good time.

Sunday, September 6: Getting a head start on the holiday
Technically Labor Day’s Monday, but the Hollywood Roosevelt isn’t about to wait around. Their Labor Day Pool Party at the Tropicana kicks off at 2 PM — first of a whole run of poolside days they’re throwing across the long weekend.

Fiesta Hermosa is back for a full three days this year — Saturday through Monday, September 5–7 — and after a few years without the Labor Day edition, it feels like a genuine homecoming. The Garden, the Mini Carnival, the Makers Mercado, four stages of music. Bring your people.
