Disaronno celebrates 500th anniversary, centuries of Italian craftsmanship, style, and Dolcevita spirit with global festivities.
A Toast to 500 Years: Disaronno’s Legacy of Style, Craft, and Dolcevita
For five centuries, Disaronno has stood as more than a liqueur — it’s been a symbol of la dolce vita, that distinctly Italian way of savoring life with grace and warmth. This year, the world’s favorite Italian liqueur celebrates its 500th anniversary, honoring a journey that began in the Renaissance and now spans more than 160 countries.
“Disaronno’s 500th anniversary is a milestone that celebrates our rich heritage while embracing the future.
Marco Ferrari
CEO of Illva Saronno Group
“…As a proud ambassador of the Italian Dolcevita, Disaronno continues to embody elegance and taste, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity. This anniversary is not just a reflection of our past but a testament to the unmistakable Italian style that will carry us forward for generations to come,” said Marco Ferrari, CEO of Illva Saronno Group.
From Renaissance Roots to Global Icon
The legend began in 1525, during the flourishing artistic era of the Italian Renaissance. Painter Bernardino Luini, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci, was commissioned to decorate the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Miracles in Saronno. When a beautiful local innkeeper posed as the Madonna for his masterpiece, she gifted Luini a flask of delicate, amber-colored liqueur as thanks — the first incarnation of what would become Disaronno.
Centuries later, the Reina family rediscovered the ancient recipe in the 1600s, passing it down through generations until it became the foundation of Illva Saronno, established in 1947.
Today, Disaronno’s signature “square cap” bottle — created in the 1970s by a Murano glass master — is instantly recognizable from Milan to Manhattan. In 1999, it even earned a place in Paris’s Louvre Museum, featured in “L’objet du Design: 99 objets pour un siècle.” A symbol of Italian style and craftsmanship, it remains one of the most photographed bottles behind luxury bars worldwide.
Disaronno celebrates 500th anniversary: Tradition Meets Modernity
Disaronno’s 500th celebration is nothing short of cinematic. Festivities will take place across more than 160 countries, uniting cultures and generations through the spirit of Italian design, elegance, and taste.
“For 500 years, Disaronno has been a symbol of Italian craftsmanship, style, and timeless quality.
