In early November 2019, tragedy struck when two children were killed during a school shooting in the Santa Clarita Valley. Many businesses jumped in to offer support using hashtag:
#SaugusStrong
To many, this was the worst event in our city’s history, and our community rallied together quickly. Some of the restaurants, bars, wine bars and wineries held fundraisers.
These are just a few that shared their past and upcoming efforts:
Pulchella Winery and Tasting Room
Our first winery and tasting room in downtown Newhall may have been the first to step forward and offer their sales from their wines, over the course of three days – their busiest as they were weekend days – to #SaugusStrong. Their social media post, which received dozens of comments, shares and reposts, read,
“IT’S BEEN THAT KIND OF WEEK.
After the kind of week we’ve all had in SCV, this is the glass of wine we all need!
Come take the edge off while supporting a good cause —
100 percent of our sales this weekend will be donated to the victims and families of Saugus High School. Come show some love.”

The Local Pub and Grill
For the entire month of December “The Local” will be donating a percentage of proceeds from their monthly Local Charity Burger fundraiser to the SCV Disaster Coalition Fund in support of the #SaugusStrong campaign. The restaurant also plans on having a day in support of Saugus Strong in January with live music from the band, Future X Husbands, who have members from the Saugus faculty in their group. Additionally, they will be donating a percentage of proceeds from the entire day to the fund, the date of this event is to be determined.

Double Trouble Wine Room
Double Trouble is looking for a date to get the Saugus High choir into Double Trouble for a fundraiser for #SaugusStrong. No firm date yet so stay tuned.

Wine 661
The popular wine bar donated an evening’s sales, 100 percent, to #SaugusStrong. The wine reps donated the wines as well. They had a great turn out and owner Tanya Green was able to write the Santa Clarita coalition a check for $1,600. The money will go towards grief counseling for students in the entire Hart district as well as anything else that each school may need.

Wolf Creek Brewery and Restaurant
For #SaugusStrong owners Laina and Rob McFerren were happy to report that they partnered with Long Shot Cornhole, SCV Cornhole and Saugus High Baseball to turn the fundraiser that was originally scheduled to help the baseball team into a #SaugusStrong event. They raised nearly $8,000 in just a few hours, and guests said it was truly a really amazing day.

Pocock Brewing Co
On November 30 Pocock Brewing held a fundraiser for #SaugusStrong where over 300 people came out to raise money and support each other. Between special t-shirt sales and proceeds from beverage sales. they raised almost $5,000 to be directed toward ongoing mental health care for all SCV students affected by the tragedy.

The Old Town Junction
Old Town Junction had its one-year anniversary on November 15. In lieu of celebrating they made the decision to donate a portion of their sales from that day to the Saugus High Community.

For #SaugusStrong, the wine bar is planning a “give back” day for Sunday, December 15th. All-day long, starting at brunch and into the evening. They will have multiple gift baskets that people can buy raffle tickets to win, plus a portion of the sales will go towards the needs of the Saugus Strong community.
