Luxury Boutique Hotel Announces Culinary Academy Led By Award-Winning Chef, Giancarla Bodoni
The remarkable culinary center literally sparkles with its stainless steel fixtures framed by lapis lazuli walls and siena red floors. It is appropriately located in the same stone building that once housed the village school of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, home to Monteverdi Tuscany. The intimate venue features ten individual marble workstations, an indoor chef’s table, and an al fresco dining area surrounded by Monteverdi’s organic herb and vegetable gardens. Centuries ago these gardens were the village parson’s orchard and garden.
In addition to the brand new Culinary Academy, Monteverdi Tuscany guests can indulge in a number of gourmet experiences at the hotel, including its award-winning restaurant, separate Enoteca, The Library Bar, and The Monteverdi Lounge and Terrace Bar.
The cuisine at each of Monteverdi’s dining venues reflects Chef Bodoni’s steadfast commitment to a zero kilometer philosophy. Ever-changing menus incorporate the season’s freshest produce sourced daily from Monteverdi’s gardens and Tuscany’s finest organic farms. Bodoni came to Monteverdi after more than two decades at the helm of her celebrated Miami restaurant, Escopazzo, the first certified organic Italian restaurant in the United States. She has been named “Best Organic Chef” by the Miami New Times, and a “Critic’s Choice” honoree by Food & Wine.
Dining at Monteverdi
- Oreade: Oreade is Monteverdi’s award-winning fine dining restaurant. Named after the mythological nymphs who frolicked in the nearby forests, Oreade was crowned “Best Hotel Restaurant” by Mr & Mrs Smith in 2015. Carved into the ancient rock of the village and framed by centuries-old wood beams, the rooms of the restaurant are warm and relaxing. Breakfast and dinner are served in its intimate setting – the environment aligned ideally with the cuisine.
- Monteverdi Lounge & Terrace Bar: In the expansive Monteverdi Lounge and Terrace Bar, an elegant Fazioli grand piano greets guests, as does an enormous wood-burning fireplace, while sumptuously textured sofas and chairs line the room, inviting a glass of wine with friends new and old alike. The elegant but hip vibe of the Monteverdi Lounge is complemented by the generous, adjoining stone
terrace – the ideal spot to experience the incomparable Tuscan sunset while enjoying an aperitif.
- The Enoteca: The Enoteca is the premiere location for lunch and wine tasting. Outdoor tables overlook the piazza, the 14th-century church of Sant’ Andrea, Monte Cetona, and the expansive hills and val- leys of the Val d’Orcia. Inside, a state-of-the-art wine dispensing system is filled with rare and fa- mous vintages from the surrounding Tuscan region. Thanks to Monteverdi’s close relationships with many of Tuscany’s finest vintners, the wine list features the region’s best producers of Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Super Tuscans and other renowned wines throughout Italy and Sicily.
- Library Bar: The intimate Library Bar invites guests to linger on its picture-perfect terrace, or cozy up inside for conversation, contemplation, or to flip through the pages of a myriad of books, all with a postcard view of Monte Cetona and Andrea Franchetti’s famous vineyard, Tenuta di Trinoro.
