So another year and you’re not in love. You’re not even dating. You’re probably questioning romance in general.
Rather than bathe in loneliness, why not swing by the pop-up Breakup Bar for an anti-Valentine’s Day celebration over bubbly, punches and wine-based cocktails with names like “Cold Day in Hell,” “Ghosted” and “Serious Baggage.”
This pop-up takes over the space next to the recently opened Severance wine bar on Melrose Avenue for two weeks, from Friday, Feb. 1 through Thursday, Feb. 14.
Severance owner Evan Charest came up with the idea for the pop-up.
While his wine bar sees a lot of first dates, Charest said he wanted to activate a space for singles because “the worst thing about Valentine’s Day is all of the requirements that everyone puts on you.”

Ha! So no, there’s no need to make a reservation.
“This is L.A. and L.A. is a last-minute city,” Charest said. “So if you show up, we’ll do our best to get you in.”
At the Breakup Bar, you can order small plates, flatbreads, and snacks from Severance’s menu. Cakes, dessert fondues and other sweets are also available.
Also featured are: a screening of classic breakup movies on a 10-foot projection screen, the art installation “Wall of Broken Relationships” in which guests contribute notes about their ex’s, and a wall of artifacts from relationships gone horribly wrong.
