Los Angeles Bars Can Reopen Indoors as of May 6

Time to raise your glass for a toast, indoors!

Starting Thursday, May 6th, Los Angeles County officially moves from the orange tier into the least restrictive yellow tier, as part of California’s ongoing Blueprint For A Safer Economy program.

The change affects many people of the County, from Dodgers fans to your next spa day, and of course restaurants and bars:

  • Bars that aren’t serving food will be able to reopen indoors, at 25% capacity, for 100 people (37.5% capacity) if all customers show proof of vaccination or negative test results. TV viewing returns, but no counter seating yet.
  • Indoor dining capacity at restaurants remains at 50%, but will no longer be capped at 200 people.
  • Breweries, wineries, and distilleries that serve food will be able to increase indoor capacity to 50%. That number can increase to 75% if all customers show proof of vaccination or negative test results.

This is a massive shift in Los Angeles after over a year of catastrophic hospitalizations and deaths.

Takeout and delivery are still available at most restaurants.
