Tallula’s, Rustic Canyon, Cassia, Esters Wine Shop & Bar: Foodie Good Fortune New Years Eve in Los Angeles

We celebrate New Year’s Eve in so many different ways!  Entertainment, dancing, and of course food.  For the foodies among us, here are some diverse and delicious ways to ring in the New Years in Los Angeles!

Tallula’s is throwing a fun-filled New Year’s Eve Fiesta with a mariachi band, photo booth and more. Chef Saw Naing is cooking up holiday-inspired fare like Tamales, Chile Relleno en Nogada, Whole Fried Local Fish and Fish Head Stew with shellfish & housemade sausage. An Artisan Agave Flight for $45 features mini tequila and mezcal cocktails alongside neat pours of añejo tequila, mezcal and pechuga. It’s the perfect way to casually celebrate before walking to the beach and ringing in 2019! Reservations can be made on the website, but Tallula’s accepts walk-ins.

Rustic Canyon’s Chef de Cuisine Andy Doubrava and Executive Chef Jeremy Fox are creating a 4-course, family-style tasting feast. Along with the freshest seasonal produce and year-long pickling, preserving and fermentation projects, they’re showcasing various cultural staples culled from traditional New Year’s celebrations. Think an RC-style Hoppin’ John, cabbage, lentils & black-eyed peas, aged New York Steak and fresh, local seafood sausage, plus more. $135/person for dinner and everyone at the table must participate, with a vegetarian menu also available. $65 for wine pairings and $30 per person for non-alcoholic cocktail pairings. Reservations can be made via Resy here

Cassia Chef Bryant Ng is cooking up some fresh takes on beloved Chinese-American fare for New Year’s Eve, alongside signatures like Chickpea Curry and Beef Rendang. The family-style, multi-course menu includes new dishes, such as “Hainan Chicken” Egg Rolls, Egg Drop Soup and a “Typhoon Shelter”—a grilled lobster served with toasted breadcrumbs, lobster roe, garlic, fermented black beans, dried chiles and scallions. There’s a vegetarian option as well and each menu is $115/person plus tax & gratuity, along with $69 for wine pairings or $30 for non-alcoholic beverage pairings. Reservations can be made here via Resy.

Esters Wine Shop & Bar is going the more casual route, so no reservations are needed. There will be special flights bubbles and a beautiful raw bar featuring a lush array of freshly-shucked oysters, ceviche, tartare and more. There will be a special New Year’s Day Boozy Brunch on January 1 from 10am-2:30 p.m. Share a Mimosa Trio with friends and enjoy Brioche French Toast with seasonal fruit & Bavarian cream, Bagels & Lox with all the fixings like cucumber dill yogurt, red onion, capers & lemon, plus more.
