Prestigious wine education course to offer onsite certification to Paso area wine industry professionals and wine aficionados; ‘WSET Level One Award in Wine’ course, held August 27th/28th, first in series of WSET courses to be offered by The Wine House at Broken Earth Winery.

The Wine House today announced the launch of the first and only fully-approved (APP) resident Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) program in Paso Robles, which will begin offering internationally recognized courses (and certifications) for beginners, connoisseurs, and service professionals in August at Broken Earth Winery. The WSET is considered to be among the most prestigious wine industry qualifications in the world.

“The mission of The Wine House Paso Robles WSET program is to advance the knowledge and credentials of wine professionals and oenophiles in the Paso Robles area by bringing consistent WSET training on site,” said The Wine House’s Education program head, Monica Marin, DipWSET/FWS. “There are thousands of wine professionals – and wine lovers – in the Paso Robles area, and we are pleased to make it easier for them to access this exciting opportunity to not only advance their wine education and credentials, but to also deepen their enjoyment of wine.”

The new Wine House Paso Robles WSET Satellite will offer the WSET Level 1 Awards in Wines in 2017, with WSET Level 2 and 3 Award courses planned for 2019. The courses are a jump start into the world of wine education and a must for professionals committed to excellence in the wine and service industries.

The WSET Level 1 Introduction to Wine, which will be offered August 27th and 28th from 6 – 9:30 pm at Broken Earth Winery (5625 Highway 46 East, Paso Robles, CA 93446), is a six-hour course that establishes a strong wine education basis, culminating with an exam for certification. The WSET Level 2 Award in Wine and Spirits dives deep into a broader world of wine through blind tasting, winemaking, growing, and a wide range of appellations, while the Level 3 Award in Wine and Spirits covers the major wine regions of the world in greater depth and includes more detailed study of viticulture and vinification.

The Wine House is launching the Paso Robles Wine Education program in association with Melanie Webber, DipWSET/FWS, and Broken Earth Winery, which will be dedicating classroom space in its soon-to-open 30,000 square foot new facility to the program. The state-of-the-art facility is designed with an educational focus.

Initial courses in Paso Robles will be taught by Marin, who is a Masters of Wine candidate with the Institutes of Masters of Wine, a certified educator of the WSET program, an accredited Bordeaux educator (CIVB Ecole du Vin), French Wine Scholar Instructor, Sherry Educator (Consejo Regulador Vinos de Jerez) and qualified in the Sensory Evaluation of Olive Oil (UC Davis). Monica has taught, and helped certify, hundreds of wine students across all levels of the WSET, as well as other wine education programs, across the US and the world.

Elizabeth Delphin loves a good time! A fun concert, a good dinner out with friends, those weird artsy-fartsy festivals. If she's not at the office or at home, she's likely walking her dog Milo at Runyon Canyon (seriously, sometimes she goes 2-3 times a day).
