Ghirardelli celebrates 20 years of Peppermint Bark with a National Peppermint Bark Day Celebration

Ghirardelli celebrates 20 years of Peppermint Bark with a joyful NYC caroling event, giveaways, and sweet seasonal treats.

When Chocolate, Caroling, and Holiday Magic Collide

New York City may have plenty of ways to spread cheer — but few sparkle quite like Ghirardelli’s National Peppermint Bark Day celebration.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark, the beloved San Francisco–born chocolate maker turned Lower Manhattan into a living snow globe of sound, sweetness, and community.

In a move that could melt even the grumpiest Grinch, Ghirardelli invited hundreds of strangers to sing “Deck the Halls” together outside the Shops at the Oculus, as a giant wrapped mystery box waited nearby. As the crowd’s joyful voices rose, a “holiday meter” tracked their spirit — and when it finally hit its peak, the box burst open to reveal over 30,000 free squares of Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark.

Now that’s what we call a sweet crescendo.

A Peppermint Tradition 20 Years in the Making

Since debuting two decades ago, Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark has become a seasonal staple — equal parts chocolate, nostalgia, and peppermint perfection.

“Everyone at Ghirardelli felt that we could all stand to be reminded of the power the season has to unite us and that you can never have too much holiday spirit,”

Bobby Oliver

VP of Marketing at Ghirardelli.

“The holidays can always use more Peppermint Bark, and since this year marks the 20th anniversary of our beloved confection, we saw an opportunity to bring the joy of our chocolate to life in an unexpected and meaningful way.”

(Honestly, 30,000 pieces of Peppermint Bark might be the only thing that could get New Yorkers to carol in public.)

From cozy kitchens in Aspen to rooftop parties in LA, Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark has become a flavor of holiday nostalgia — the sweet, minty note that signals the season has officially arrived.
