JAY-Z AND BEYONCÉ took Cleveland by storm the other night for the first stop of their OTR II North American leg, performing at FirstEnergy Stadium. The show includes one of the largest stages ever for a concert tour, including two catwalks that extend deep in to the audience and a floating platform that goes over half the length of the stadium. The production is a celebration of love, family and culture, featuring a performance wall embedded within the massive screens, a 26-person vertical orchestra and 17 dancers.
Media praise for the North American opener includes:
“The ‘On The Run II Tour’ pulls out all the stops, including a massive backing band, dancers upon dancers, fireworks, the aforementioned moving stage and various wardrobe changes.” – The Plain Dealer
“…those in attendance saw two of the biggest stars in music history at the top of their game.” – The Plain Dealer
The new leg follows a slew of recently wrapped dates in the U.K. and Europe, with media raving about the phenomenal show:
“Pop’s number-one power couple reaffirmed their dominance, and the strength of their bond, at a hits-packed, visually stunning show…” – Rolling Stone
“On The Run II delivers… without compromise to exquisite and devastating degrees.” – Billboard
“Production wise, it’s a masterclass in how to put on a stadium show… it’s a total triumph – and the perfect indication that things will only get bigger and better as the world tour of juggernaut proportions goes on.” – NME
“a thrilling joyride through the stars’ back catalogues that covered feminist anthems (Flawless); hip-hop classics (Dirt Off Your Shoulder) and the obligatory display of Beyonce’s vocal force (Resentment)” – BBC
DJ Khaled and Chloe x Halle also made their debut in Cleveland last night and will appear on all North American dates as support. Also making it’s North American debut is Club Carter – an exclusive, interactive VIP club in the front center of the stadium where fans can experience the unforgettable show up close. Club Carter also includes guaranteed early entry and a cash bar with beer, wine and spirits before the show starts.
