Win for #TeamSeas Initiative: MrBeast, Mark Rober Receive $1.2M Donation from Great.com’s Founder Erik Bergman<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2019, YouTube celebrities’\u00a0Mark Rober<\/span>\u00a0and MrBeast launched their #TeamTrees initiative in collaboration with\u00a0Arbor Day Foundation<\/a><\/u>\u00a0to raise\u00a0$20 million<\/span>\u00a0to put towards planting 20 million trees.<\/p>\n

For every dollar donated, one tree would be planted. To date,\u00a0that project<\/a><\/u>\u00a0has raised more than\u00a0$23 million<\/span>.<\/p>\n

They’ve now launched a follow-up initiative called\u00a0#TeamSeas<\/a><\/u>\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0The Ocean Cleanup<\/a><\/u>\u00a0organization which pledges to remove one pound of trash from the ocean for every dollar donated to the campaign.<\/p>\n

MrBeast and Mark are both known for their philanthropy and many of their most popular videos feature giveaways of money, cars, and more. However, the #TeamSeas campaign is seeking to raise\u00a0$30 million<\/span>\u00a0which requires outside financial support.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0October 31, 2021<\/span>,\u00a0Erik Bergman<\/span>\u00a0\u2014 founder of\u00a0Great.com<\/a><\/u>, an online casino affiliate that donates 100% of its profits to charity, saw this initiative on Twitter and reached out with a proposition.<\/p>\n

He offered to donate\u00a0$1.2 million<\/span>\u00a0to the cause in exchange for getting to spend a day hanging out with the two YouTubers. They both agreed immediately.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0$1.2 million<\/span>\u00a0donation was\u00a0$200,000<\/span>\u00a0more than the previous highest donor, The Bikoff Foundation, and remained the highest donation until it was passed by Shopify’s founder Tobias L\u00fctke who donated\u00a0$1,200,001<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Twitter exchange<\/a><\/u>\u00a0between Erik, MrBeast, and Mark has garnered hundreds of thousands of impressions, likes, retweets, and quotes. It was also the topic of discussion between MrBeast and Mark while on\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/a><\/u>\u00a0recently.<\/p>\n

When asked about the donation and his reasoning behind wanting to spend the day with the YouTubers in exchange for contributing, Erik said:<\/p>\n

“I’ve always admired the creative techniques MrBeast and Mark use to draw attention to different causes and topics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

…As someone who recently launched a business that donates all its proceeds to charity, I could learn a few things from these two \u2014 and I saw this donation as an opportunity to do just that while also helping the environment which is a core value of Great.com. It’s a win-win.”<\/p>\n
