ASA Entertainment announced recently that the World Surf League (WSL) QS6000 Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will celebrate its 12th<\/sup>\u00a0year at the Oceanside Pier in\u00a0Oceanside, Calif.<\/span>,\u00a0July 27-29<\/span>, 2018.\u00a0 The nationally televised event is the largest female surf contest in the world, with more than 100 of the planet’s top pros expected to compete.\u00a0\u00a0Admission to the event is free.<\/b><\/p>\n The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will serve as the only major all-women’s WSL qualifying event in the US, and plays a critical role for surfers looking to solidify their position on the 2019 WSL Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT).<\/p>\n “This contest is extremely important in the qualification process for next year’s WCT,” said\u00a0Jessi Miley-Dyer<\/span>, WSL Women’s Tour Manager. “The event is an amazing combination of the best surfers on the planet with many of the newer faces just beginning their pro journey. That’s just one of the things that makes this all-women’s contest so unique within competitive surfing.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Some of the world-class surfers registered to compete include 6-time World Champion\u00a0Stephanie Gilmore<\/span><\/b>, 3-time World Champion\u00a0Carissa Moore<\/span><\/b>, #1 ranked\u00a0Lakey Peterson<\/span><\/b>, #3 ranked\u00a0Tatiana Weston-Webb<\/span><\/b>, #5 ranked\u00a0Johanne Defay<\/span><\/b>, 2013 champ\u00a0Malia Manuel<\/span><\/b>,\u00a0two-time champion\u00a0Sage Erickson<\/span><\/b>, rookie sensation\u00a0Caroline Marks<\/span><\/b>, three-time Champion,\u00a0<\/b>Coco Ho<\/b>, star surfer\u00a0Alana Blanchard<\/span><\/b>, and defending champion\u00a0Courtney Conlogue<\/span><\/b>.<\/p>\n “All of the women are so excited about this event,” said\u00a0Sage Erickson<\/span>, one of the world’s top surfers and a two-time Supergirl Pro champion.\u00a0 “It’s so awesome to have a contest like this in the U.S. that focuses entirely on women’s surfing. The whole festival around the event gets bigger each year, and the crowds are huge.\u00a0 It’s amazing to see how many incredible things are going on at the event beyond women’s surfing that all speak to the female empowerment theme. It’s my favorite event of the year!”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n In addition to the best surfing in the world, the event features an action-packed Festival Village with\u00a020 live concerts<\/b>, the only female-driven multi-title\u00a0esports tournament<\/b>\u00a0in the U.S., an all-female\u00a0DJ contest<\/b>, a women’s\u00a0skateboarding competition<\/b>, fitness and dance classes, art, yoga, speakers, autographs, hair styling, a\u00a0Celebrity Surf Invitational<\/b>, 40 vendor booths, and many other activities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The complete entertainment and music lineup will be announced shortly.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n “We are really pleased about the expansion of the event both in and out of the water,” said\u00a0Rick Bratman<\/span>, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s management company. \u00a0“Each year we look to include elements that will not only add to the festival’s experience, but will also further the mission of providing opportunities for women in areas where they are traditionally under-represented.
