That is the main takeaway of a recent survey conducted by\u00a0LosAngelesHotels.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n The survey compared all notable destinations in the Golden State based on their cost of lodging during the months of July and\u00a0August 2018<\/span>. Only hotels rated at least 3 stars and located close to the beach or city center were considered.<\/p>\n At an average nightly rate of\u00a0$297<\/span>\u00a0for its most affordable double room,\u00a0Coronado<\/span>\u00a0leads the rankings. Only a few dollars cheaper\u00a0is\u00a0Huntington Beach<\/span>, a surf resort in the southeast part of\u00a0Los Angeles<\/span>. The Top 3 podium is rounded out by the famous\u00a0Santa Monica<\/span>. There an overnight guest will have to spend\u00a0$254<\/span>, on average, for the least expensive room.<\/p>\n Palo Alto<\/span>\u00a0ranks fourth most expensive on the survey at an average cost of\u00a0$252<\/span>\u00a0per night. That price tag positions it as the highest\u00a0California<\/span>\u00a0destination without a beach. Also listed among the 10 priciest destinations are\u00a0Napa<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0San Jose<\/span>, with overnight rates of\u00a0$231<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0$226<\/span>\u00a0respectively for their cheapest available room.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The following table shows the 10 most expensive summer destinations in\u00a0California<\/span>.
