The Center for Puppetry Arts will hold its second\u00a0Puppets for Puppetry\u00a0<\/i>dinner and show on\u00a0Saturday, May 5<\/span>th<\/sup>, 2018, at The Jim Henson Company’s historic lot in Hollywood.\u00a0 The benefit event will be hosted by comedian\u00a0Chris Hardwick<\/span>\u00a0(The Wall<\/i>,\u00a0Talking Dead)<\/i>\u00a0and feature special guests\u00a0Jack McBrayer<\/span>\u00a0(30 Rock<\/i>,\u00a0Wreck It Ralph<\/i>),\u00a0Bobby Moynihan<\/span>(SNL, Inside Out<\/i>), and Grammy Award-winner\u00a0Jason Mraz<\/span>\u00a0(“I’m Yours”).<\/p>\n

The unique fundraising event will honor the beloved puppeteer\u00a0Caroll Spinney<\/span>, best known to fans around the world as the performer of the iconic\u00a0Sesame Street<\/i>\u00a0characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch.\u00a0 Favorite characters from the series and special surprises will also be a part of the unforgettable evening.\u00a0\u00a0Bill Barretta<\/span>,\u00a0Leslie Carrara-Rudolph<\/span>,\u00a0Brian Henson<\/span>,\u00a0Eric Jacobson<\/span>, and\u00a0Matt Vogel<\/span>\u00a0are just some of the incredible puppeteers confirmed to participate.<\/p>\n

The site also includes an online auction with collectible items including artwork from\u00a0Caroll Spinney<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Jim Henson<\/span>, and a quilt from artists at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.\u00a0\u00a0Puppets for Puppetry\u00a0<\/i>is presented with generous support from\u00a0Joan Ganz Cooney<\/span>, The Jim Henson Company, Sesame Workshop, and Tyler Perry Studios, among others.<\/p>\n

The mission of the Center for Puppetry Arts is to inspire imagination, education, and community through the global art of puppetry. This\u00a0Atlanta<\/span>-based nonprofit is the nation’s only resource of its kind, featuring an international puppetry collection, a vibrant theatre space, and workshops and performances that develop puppetry talent; it also houses more than 500 puppets and props donated by the family of\u00a0Jim Henson<\/span>\u00a0and The Jim Henson Company in its permanent exhibit, The\u00a0Jim Henson<\/span>Collection. The Center’s educational programs serve schools nationwide, complementing national curriculum standards in language arts, social studies, science, math, and other areas.<\/p>\n

In the Center’s most recently-completed fiscal year, visitors came from all 50 states. The Center’s Distance Learning program has also reached all 50 states and nine countries with live and interactive workshops and performances, delivered through videoconferencing.<\/p>\n
