Night + Market Sahm

From a Thai staple’s new location in Venice to an Israeli bistro with California vibes, there’s a lot that’s new to check out this month. Here are our picks for April’s buzziest new restaurants.

Night + Market Sahm

Kris Yenbamroong expands his family of splashy Thai restaurants with a third outpost in Venice (sahm means “three” in Thai) and brings along the flowered plastic tablecloths that adorn his other locations. Sinuses will be as clear as the plates thanks to spicy faves like crispy rice salad and pastrami drunken noodles. If heat isn’t your thing, try the Peking duck pizza on flaky roti. 2533 Lincoln Blvd., Venice —Marielle Wakim

The Mezzanine

Overlooking the lobby at the NoMad hotel, the Mezzanine is a grand destination pulled off with big city verve. Roast chicken for two, a holdover from chef Daniel Humm’s NYC menu, has truffle-and-foie-gras stuffing piped under its skin, while a fruits de mer platter is gilded with grilled Monterey abalone. Cocktails are superb, but a selection of vintage Champagnes suits the room. 649 S. Olive St., downtown —Garrett Snyder

Jaffa

At Anne Conness’s airy, modern Israeli bistro, shawarma-spiced Chinook salmon is rubbed with cardamom, and fried Weiser potatoes are blasted with Yemeni hot sauce. Sandstone walls evoke the Levant, but the kale salad flecked with pomegranate seeds reveals a California slant. For dessert: a velvety tahini shake and a dram of anise-flavored arak. 8048 W. 3rd St., Beverly Grove —Garrett Snyder
