Something people don’t often talk about in regards to living in LA is that it does, in fact, get cold. Kind of.
People who live in LA for too long eventually forget what cold actually is — people who I’ll see wearing an actual parka and scarf when it’s 60 degrees, for instance. But while daytime temperatures tend to hover around 70 in the winter, they’ll dip to close to 50 in the evening. (Brrrr.)
These temperatures require pretty specific outerwear requirements and lately, I’ve been on the hunt for something more substantial than a sweater, non-leather, but not quite a full-on coat. I’ve also been feeling like long-ish blazers look cool right now and go well with jeans.
And on a recent trip to & Other Stories, I found it. Made of a wool blend with a grey checked houndstooth pattern, this long-but-not-too-long blazer has the warmth, versatility and overall aesthetic I was after. It’s the perfect thing to throw over my uniform of a T-shirt or button-down and high-waisted jeans to pull things together, so I wear it constantly.
And if you live somewhere colder (so, pretty much anywhere else in the country), it would make a great piece for layering under your coat, too. Or, life hack: Move to LA.
