Once again it’s time for white wine fans to rejoice as the 2016 Chardonnay Symposium takes place May 12-15 at various Pismo Beach locations including Avila Lighthouse Suites, Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort, Avila Beach Gold Resort, Greengate Ranch & Vineyard.
Over the 3-day festival, attendees have many fun choices to pick from to learn about the grape, its origin regions, blind tasting, food pairings, and of course the grand tasting.
While events for vintners and sommeliers begin on May 12, consumer functions are curated Friday morning with a French Chardonnay lunch guided by Master Sommelier Bob Bath.
Later in the day, Randy Caparoso from SOMM Journal takes guests on a tour of Wente clone Chardonnay and its history dating back over 40 years.
The evening ends with La Paulée Dinner and Vintners Awards Ceremony to celebrate chardonnay while feasting on a gourmet, multi-course dinner.
On Saturday, attendees can indulge in a region seminar, studying how climate, soil and elevation influences their favorite chardonnays, a guided blind-tasting to help hone your palate, pairings with artisanal cheeses.
Of course there’s the Grand Tasting 1pm to 5pm at Greengate Ranch and Vineyard. Guests will taste their way through the best Chardonnays in the region while enjoying local food and products.
