Since its World Premiere in April, SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP has received 11 festival Wins and 28 additional nominations on the indie festival circuit. “Being selected as the Opening Night film at WILLiFESTis an absolute dream come true,” says director Malindi Fickle. “Being recognized by Williamsburg — a festival dedicated to celebrating the independent voice — is an incredible honor. We wrote the script in New York and the post work was done here too — to have the opportunity to bring this film to Brooklyn is extremely special.”

SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP was shot on location in Fortville and Indianapolis, Indiana.  The ensemble cast depicts this emotionally raw story: Drug addition’s collateral damage is laid bare when a former honor student, newly addicted to prescription pills, triggers a fast-moving chain of events that devastates her friends and threatens to tear her family part.

Director Malindi Fickle will lead a Q&A after the screening and will be joined at the festival by Producer Beth O’Neil as well as actors Lacy Marie Meyer, Gregory Konow, Matthew Goodrich and Brian Boyd.

SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP has been taken on by Glen Reynolds’ Circus Road Films for representation to North American distributors. Circus Road is a US based consulting firm providing strategic advisory services to independent filmmakers.

Opening Night premiere at Williamsburg International Film Festival (217 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211) at 8:00pm on Thursday September 18, 2014.
