Sarah Brightman has kicked off her North American 33-city fall tour in support of her new #1 album Dreamchaser. This spectacular production will visit the Southland next week with two area shows — Friday November 1st at Dolby Theatre followed by The Theatre at Honda Center on Saturday, November 2nd.
“I want to make the shows as beautiful as possible with the feelings, in the visual sense, behind me,” Brightman told Billboard. “I’m using a huge, round screen that almost looks like a satellite behind me.”
In support of these dates and her latest release, Brightman has a brand-new performance video for her song “Glosoli.” The astounding rendition of Sigur Rós’ track, featuring new English lyrics by Chris Difford (Squeeze), is accompanied by the release of a club remix, in keeping with Brightman’s history of crossover dance remix hits. “Glosoli” appears on Dreamchaser, a collaboration with veteran producer Mike Hedges, known for his iconic work with the likes of U2, The Cure and Dido. “One Day Like This” is a unique depiction of British band Elbow’s legendary song. The album also features “Closer,” and a breathtaking new arrangement of “Tubular Bells.”
The tour, video, and remix follow the spectacular reception to Brightman’s most recent PBS special, “Dreamchaser: In Concert,” which aired nationwide this summer. That program will be released on DVD later this year. Watch a trailer here: http://youtu.be/Otk8Ct77Yjw
2013 has seen Brightman reigniting her ardent fan base as well as introducing new followers to the fold. In turn, a current contest on Tumblr asks fans to “remix” footage from Brightman’s “Angel” and “One Day Like This” videos into original photos and GIF. The contest runs through September 21st and you can see a mosaic of the entries so far here: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/sarah10day
