On Saturday May 18 2013, filmmaker Walter Dominguez unveils his latest film work “Weaving the Past: Journey of Discovery” for a special screening hosted by Dominguez and Shelley Morrison to benefit the Museum of Social Justice at Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood, CA.
The powerful documentary weaves social justice themes within one man’s quest to uncover his grandfather’s early life — and the secrets that are revealed. At times provocative, often moving and ultimately poignant. To understand how Mexican immigrants and Mexican Americans have contributed positively to American Society, the documentary offers vital historical background on our current immigration issues. The director uses a straightforward style that allows the story and interviewed participants to be showcased within a sturdy narrative structure.
Saturday’s preview screening benefits the Museum of Social Injustice which is scheduled to open in September on Los Angeles’ historic Olvera Street. Support from this event will aide the museum’s historical exhibits and educational outreach program.
The excitement begins at 6pm with a red carpet arrival featuring Shelley Morrison, Walter Dominguez, Renee Victor, Melora Walters, Charles Fleischer, Kate Flannery and more.
