A rainy evening didn’t stop music-lovers from packing the room at House of Blues Sunset Strip to see Sienna Spalding on Tuesday night. She rocked the crowd with singer-influenced songs Adam Lambert’s “Whatayawant From Me” and Christina Aguilera’s “Vanity”, as well as unveiling her own songs “Wonderland” and “Girly Girl”.
The crowd was varied and high energy. A range of ages and culture, but excited to make some noise.
Sienna enters the stage in her vivacious style; what looks like a black leather bustier with a multi-colored tutu. Her wide grin covers her face with sugary delight. She cradles the microphone in her palm as she speaks, purring to the audience, eyeing her fans with a mix of glee and confidence. She’s having fun and she knows you will too. And with that, the show begins!
The evening’s first song, a cover of Adam Lambert’s “Whatayawant From Me” was a quieter rendition. Almost intimate. But as Sienna took on her cover of “Vanity” she pushed her energy into over-drive.
Two back-up dancers accompany Sienna on stage. Together the trio rocked and rolled, eliciting cheers and dances breaking out from within the crowd.
Sienna Spalding is most at home performing. As she struts across stage, her eyes lock on the audience. Flirting, teasing, taunting. Incredibly playful with a slight dominatrix twist. You don’t know whether to invite her home, or confess your secrets. Either way, just make sure she stays close by.
Sienna ends the evening with “Girly Girl”, a peppy ode to her brand of Girl Power. As the girls dance and she controls the crowd, it’s a great sugar rush and Sienna Spalding has proudly captained our ship. In this case, it’s a pink ship, maybe with studded spikes, leather straps and lots of glitter.
It’s a fun night out to be sure. You leave chewing catchy girl-flavored lyrics and the girls in your group dancing along to Sienna’s dose of girl power.
