Former Detroit Mayor-turned-author Kwame Kilpatrick celebrates Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a celebration of fathers inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother’s Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting. Celebrated on a variety of dates, however the honor is received worldwide and recognized multi-culturally.

One of the nation’s most well-known fathers, former Detroit Mayor-turned-author Kwame Kilpatrick weighed in from behind bars where it seems he’s serving the last of his days before returning to freedom:

“These past few years have not been easy for me.  [….] While I fluctuate, my family is my stability. […] It is on days like today, Father’s Day, where I would do anything to have my arms around them and just to be there.  To be with them.”

Fathers around the world are celebrated and honored by their children and families for the duties they happily take on for a family they strongly support.
