ONCEKids attends ‘Culinary Artists for Japan’ Relief Effort
On Thursday April 21, 2011 ONCEKids publisher and author of the acclaimed Fujimini Adventure Series Eileen Wacker attended the Japan Relief Benefit Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The special benefit was created to directly support the Japan Disaster Relief Effort. Culinary Artists for the Japan Relief Effort featured three renowned chefs – Halekulani’s Executive Chef Vikram Garg, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa of Nobu restaurants, and Chef Yuji Wakiya of Turandot and Wakiya restaurants.
Author Eileen Wacker explained her passion for the evening, “It was a night of celebration with friends who share an interest in helping the Japanese people put their lives back together. As we glanced up at the star filled sky, we voiced our admiration for the Japanese people who show their strength and determination in a very difficult time.”
Dishes included Nobu-style Lomi Lomi Salmon with Genma Salsa, Rock Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce, Achari Ghost – 7 Spiced Beef with Maui Onion jus, Seafood Curry and Halekulani Coconut Cake. Black Pepper-Flavored Orange Chicken, King Crab, Vegetable and Mushroom Harumaki.
One hundred percent of the event proceeds go towards the statewide initiative, “Aloha for Japan,” with the Japan-America Society of Hawaii as the designated recipient benefiting the Japanese Red Cross Society.
