PETA’s 30th Anniv Gala and Humanitarian Awards

On Sept 25th PETA held their 30th Anniversary Gala and Humanitarian Awards in Hollywood honoring activists and celebrities for their work of helping the work of PETA all around the world taking a stand for animal rights. The gala was hosted by Alec Baldwin, actor and known supporter of PETA.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, is said to be the world’s largest animal rights organization in the world with its 2 million members. It’s an American non-profit group led by Ingrid Newkirk, working for animal rights all around the world with its slogan “animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or to abuse in any way”.

The gala attracted lots of well known people such as Joaquin Phoenix, Pamela Anderson, Kelly Osbourne, Sophia Bush and more. Kellan Lutz you may have seen on the screen as a vampire from Twilight but on this particular night he was honored with an award for his contribution to the campaign supporting the adoption of animals instead of buying from the pet store.

Famous actress Eva Mendes was also given an honor award for her belief and support of not wearing animal fur. Eva is associated with many top designers within the fashion industry but she is taking a stand from wearing fur that exists in the world of fashion. “I want people to know that there are options; that killing a poor animal and wearing it isn’t cool. But respecting all life forms is cool. Very cool.”
