She debuted in the US with the song Do You Know What It Takes. Since, she has been laying rather low in the US with just a couple of appearances from top ten singles to collaborations with Snoop Dogg. She has been praised in her home country and is repeatedly compared with the US own Fame Monster Lady Gaga.
I’m talking about Robyn. A Swedish pop sensation that’s about to follow up on her previous success even stronger with three full albums; Body Talk Pt. 1, 2 & 3. Dancing On My Own is her first single which was recently released in the US scoring a third position on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart landing her an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman.
Both Robyn and Lady Gaga are original and different, to say the least. Gaga’s huge success with her single Just Dance can be compared with Robyn’s With Every Heartbeat.
Robyn is saying she is dancing on her own while Gaga is encourages us to just dance, making me more intrigued than ever to what them both will accomplish in the future. I’m curious to what Robyn has to offer with her albums coming up, so am I curious to Lady Gaga’s coming album with a release in the beginning of 2011. The title we are eager to know, the fame monster is revealing it on New Year’s Eve when she is transforming the title into a tattoo, proving that extreme is the only thing good enough for her.
Robyn may be more subtle, but the extraordinary is definitely there. They share a uniqueness that other artists fail to conquer. Lady Gaga will always be unique, talented and perhaps a little bit too much, but you can certainly say one thing about Robyn, and that is that she is on Top of Pop.
