Wonder Woman 2 is about to get the most lovable villain in DC history. Warner Bros. and DC Comics reportedly may cast actress and comedian Kristen Wiig as the villain in the second installment of the massively popular film. According to Deadline, Wiig is in talks to play Cheetah, one of Wonder Woman’s first archenemies.
The first Cheetah villain was a socialite with a split personality who is jealous of Diana Prince (Wonder Woman’s secret identity), played by Gal Gadot. However, the movie is set during the Cold War and Wiig will most likely play the third version of the Cheetah. The third Cheetah is actually Prince’s former friend turned foe who became the host body for an ancient cat god during a ritual. That should be interesting.
Wiig hasn’t played a super villain before, but her experience on Saturday Night Liveand in movies like Ghostbusters and Bridesmaids could help her turn Cheetah into an entertaining and maybe even funny villain. While Wiig’s role isn’t confirmed yet, the movie will begin production this summer so it’s only a matter of time before we find out.
Wonder Woman 2 will be directed by the first film’s director, Patty Jenkins, and will be the first movie made under “anti-sexual harassment guidelines.” It’s looking like the movie, which comes out November 1, 2019, is shaping up to be a great one.
