LA Wine Fest Dr. Joel M. Fisher: OC WineFest, Jeff Graves

I tasted several wines November 3, 2017 at the Sun Dried Tomato Winery, San Juan Capistrano to benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of OC kicking off March 10-11 2018 OC WineFest.

2016 Roussanne, Dry Creek, Giracci Vineyards.  Aroma very fruit forward with citrus fruits, pear and nuts.   Sample was medium bodied with notable texture, stronger than medium body and a long finish.  Went nicely with sundried tomato soup in a small dish.

A second tasting of the 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir from Giracci (first sampled on October 17).  Color this time was bright, fruit forward, lots of berries and earth in mouth, good finish.  Enjoyed with baked Atlantic salmon.

Next I enjoyed the 2015 “Posse” red blend Cowboy Canyon from Sierra Foothills.  Lots of fruit on the nose, cherries, currants.  Medium body with cherry on the palate.  Tannins present, but moderate, a complex wine still developing, smoky long finish improving with time.

Last was the 2012 Jumping Vines Meritage, made by Jeff Graves,  who I met back at one of the early meetings planning the OC Wine Fest. A Bordeaux bend with toast on the nose an a definite mouth feel of chocolate and probably caramel.  Finish expended while tasting slowly.  You would enjoy tri tip paired with this.

Jeff, by the way, now in Texas, won gold medals at the San Francisco Wine & Spirit Competition.  I wish their family well in Texas.
