
World of Pinot Noir Celebrates 15th Anniversary , Feat’g Jancis Robinson, Jim Clendenen, Fred Dame

“It’s our Crystal Anniversary so we’ve pulled out all the stops”, says Leslie Renaud of Roth Estate and this year’s World of Pinot Noir President. “The celebration starts on Friday morning with Jancis Robinson moderating the seminar series, continues through the weekend with two tasting events attracting more than 225 wineries from around the world and concludes with opening a ton of magnums on Saturday night at the Rock Stars of Pinot dinner honoring Jim Clendenen.”

The fifteenth annual World of Pinot Noir, taking place on March 6th & 7th, 2015 at Bacara Resort & Spa brings Pinot Noir producers together with Pinot Noir enthusiasts for a weekend of celebration and education. WOPN features educational, culinary and tasting events. Friday will feature a pair of seminars moderated by world renowned wine expert Jancis Robinson , a tasting from 100 plus Pinot producers pouring a library + current release wine, a Burgundy Winemaker dinner with Alexandrine Roy from Domaine Marc Roy, and three additional focused and intimate winemaker dinners with guest chefs David Rosner from Wine Cask Restaurant, and Frank Ostini with the Hitching Post II. Saturday’s schedule includes the popular Burgundy seminar, a Sea Urchin and Mushroom food and wine pairing seminar, and the World of Pinot Grand Tasting with more than 125 wineries. The Saturday evening lineup includes the Rock Stars of Pinot Noir Dinner honoring Jim Clendenen, the Vintage Burgundy Dinner hosted by Fred Dame M.S. and the Crystal Anniversary Dinner.
Screening in the Bacara theatre on both days of the tastings are American Wine Story and Vintage 2014: the story behind the vines. Visit the producer and cinematographer of American Wine Story, Truen Pence, at the Brooks Wine table at the tastings. Vintage 2014 producer and director, Wil Fernandez, will be available at WOPN to answer questions about his multimedia collaboration.
The World of Pinot Noir brings more than 2,000 guests to the Central Coast during the weekend of events that feature Pinot Noir from 225 wineries ranging from California, Oregon, Burgundy, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Chile, Austria, Canada, Italy, and New York.
The World of Pinot Noir takes place annually during the first weekend in March. The event is renowned for bringing Pinot Noir producers from the most exceptional and unique regions from around the world to California’s beautiful Central Coast. A portion of the funds from the World of Pinot Noir silent auction benefits the Michael Bonaccorsi Foundation with Allan Hancock College and the Keith Patterson Memorial Endowment at Cal Poly University.
