Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival May 1-8
For one week, May 1 through May 8th, the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival will screen films that were “chosen” from around the world that celebrate Jewish heritage and experience.
The 9th annual, Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival will honor Carl Reiner this year at a special opening night gala tribute to Sid Caesar. This LAJFF opening night is also the inaugural event for the newly named; Steve Tisch Cinema Center at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
Comedy writers, producers, industry titans and stand up comedians that were influenced by Carl Reiner are expected to attend this glittering red carpet event. Beginning at 7pm, the opening night gala attracts VIP’s and celebrities from all areas of the entertainment business.
As a tribute to Sid Caesar, LAJFF will screen a special opening night documentary film, “Ten From Your Show Of Shows.” This feature-length compilation of the famed “Your Show of Shows” from the hit 1950’s television show, captures hilarious moments written by the comedy dream team of writers including Carl Reiner, Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart and Neil Simon. The evening will begin with a fascinating Q&A session by Carl Reiner, moderated by Phil Rosenthal, creator of “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
LAJFF will also hold a special “in memoriam” tribute for the festival’s beloved friend, renowned Casting Director, Marvin Paige. As President of the Classic Film Preservation Society, Marvin Paige brought classic Hollywood stars to all of the LAJFF annual red carpet events.
