You recently read here about two upcoming events. Well, they took place last weekend — both in Santa Monica. Let me tell you something about the two.
The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica, under the direction of Jennifer Vides, the Club’s Executive Director, bravely decided to put this on herself, reaching out throughout the community. She pulled off this first time at bat with a wine event, and it was a happy crowd enjoying the beautiful Saturday.
Throughout the back basketball courts, we had tents, umbrellas, music, noise and some people. I don’t mean this facetiously. It was a good beginning, and I’ll come back to help this young leader (well supported by her Board) repeat the event, and make it even better. I’ll push for water, crackers or bread, and cheese around the venue. Cheese, well let me stop there. There were three food trucks in the back with us — all headlining cheese. Outside the front gate we had another truck serving hotdogs which were really good. Nice to have a choice.
We had the Flower Truck, the Naked Grape, Firestone Walker, Martian, Shai, (all LAWineFest regulars, as well as Carpathian, Ross Miller and some of his wines, LAWineFest pouring our wine for the charity and others. Peroni, one of my favorite beers from Italy was also well represented, along with the Bundt and their great little cakes, Pourtal, the wine bar, and others.
I’m reminding you to make a note for next year. They will be back, bigger and better, and you should be there to support them.
